Healthtech startup Medulance has successfully secured ₹24 crore (approximately $2.5 million) in its Series A funding round. The round was led by Auxano Capital, with participation from existing investors Alkemi, Equentis, and a group of angel investors. The fresh injection of capital will fuel Medulance’s plans to expand its emergency medical services across the vast and diverse setting of India.

Emergency Response Through Technology

Established in 2017 by visionary co-founders Pranav Bajaj and Ravjot Singh Arora, Medulance operates a cutting-edge, GPS-based emergency response and ambulance booking platform. Users in need of urgent medical assistance can request ambulances through the company’s user-friendly mobile app or by making a simple phone call. Medulance’s extensive fleet comprises various types of vehicles to cater to diverse medical needs, including advanced life support vehicles for critical cases, basic life support units for less severe emergencies, patient transport vans for non-emergency medical transportation, and mortuary services for dignified end-of-life care.

At the core of Medulance’s operations lies its advanced use of technology. The platform coordinates ambulance dispatch and manages emergency calls efficiently, while simultaneously facilitating real-time connections between patients and medical teams, as well as hospitals. GPS tracking and 5G-enabled systems allow ambulances to transmit key patient health data to hospitals in real-time, enabling medical staff to prepare and prioritize resources for incoming cases even before the patient arrives. Furthermore, some vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art cameras that enable doctors to remotely assess patients during transit, ensuring that critical care begins the moment an emergency call is placed.

Scale and Response Times

Medulance’s extensive network currently comprises more than 15,000 ambulances, serving over 80 lakh people across India in more than 500 cities. This expansive footprint enables the company to handle approximately 5,000 emergency calls daily, demonstrating its commitment to serving a broad range of communities. Medulance’s impressive operational efficiency is reflected in its average response time of less than 11 minutes, a sign to the company’s streamlined processes and effective use of technology. Additionally, the company’s fleet maintains an uptime exceeding 95 percent, ensuring that help is always at hand when needed. Medulance’s client base is equally impressive, boasting more than 110 corporate and hospital clients, a sign to the company’s reputation for reliability and excellence in emergency medical services.

The latest funding round follows a previous $3 million Series A round led by Alkemi Growth Capital in 2024. To date, Medulance has raised over $5 million in total capital, a significant milestone that shows investors’ confidence in the company’s potential to transform India’s emergency healthcare sector.

Market Context and Expansion Plans

The fresh capital injection comes at a time when India’s emergency healthcare sector is grappling with fragmentation. The country’s ambulance operators, hospitals, and medical teams often work within disconnected systems, leading to gaps in response times and coordination. This fragmentation is particularly pronounced in smaller cities and rural areas, where emergency healthcare infrastructure often lags behind urban centers. Medulance aims to address this challenge by connecting disparate parts of the emergency response chain through unified dispatch and data-sharing systems, ensuring seamless and efficient care for patients across the country.

Medulance plans to use the new funds to grow its hospital and enterprise business, further improve its technology infrastructure, and expand its connected ambulance network nationwide. By doing so, the company seeks to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing ambulance services market. According to industry projections, India’s ambulance services market reached $5.5 billion in 2025 and is expected to grow to $9.8 billion by 2034. This growth is driven by the increasing demand for reliable emergency medical transport and pre-hospital care, as well as the country’s expanding healthcare sector. The segment is projected to register a compound annual growth rate of 6.33 percent between 2026 and 2034, presenting Medulance with an attractive opportunity to scale its operations and consolidate its market leadership.
