Bengaluru-based Simple Energy has launched its Simple Wave, its first family escooter, priced at ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the introductory variant. The lineup spans six models across three variants: Simple Wave S, Simple Wave, and Simple Wave+.
Range and Performance Specs
The top-end Simple Wave+ comes with a 5 kWh battery pack, an IDC-certified range of 243 km, and a top speed of 90 kmph. It uses a 6.4 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 179 Nm of wheel torque. The other models feature smaller battery capacities of 3.7 kWh, 2.7 kWh, and 2.2 kWh, delivering IDC-certified ranges of 171 km, 132 km, and 110 km respectively.
All variants include portable chargers and support both standard and fast charging. Simple Energy claims the top model can reach 0-80% charge in a minimum of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Bookings are now open through the company’s stores and website, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the last week of September.
Manufacturing and Sales Targets
The manufacturer currently operates at around 35% capacity utilization and can manufacture up to 3,000 scooters per month. It is selling approximately 1,500 units monthly through more than 75 outlets across 63 cities. Simple Energy aims to increase monthly sales to 10,000 units by March 2027 by expanding production capacity and its retail network. The startup expects capacity utilization to rise to 75-80% by the end of the next financial year.
In June, Simple Energy raised ₹250 crore in a mix of debt and equity as it prepared to become a full-stack EV manufacturer and pursue an IPO. The capital will primarily go toward scaling up manufacturing capacity and expanding production, while remaining funds will support sales, marketing, and R&D to strengthen its product roadmap and customer experience. Its investors include the family office of Thyrocare founder Arokiaswamy Velumandi, Haran Family Office, Desai Family Office, and Vasavi Family Office. The company has raised more than $84 million to date.

Founded in 2019 by Rajkumar and Shreshth Mishra, with Ankit Gupta later joining as a cofounder, Simple Energy competes against Ola Electric, Ather Energy, TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, and Hero MotorCorp in India’s electric two-wheeler segment.
Market Competition
The Simple Wave launch comes days after rivals Ola Electric and Ather Energy introduced new scooters targeting the mass-market electric two-wheeler segment. Last week, Ola Electric launched its S1Z escooter in two variants priced at ₹79,999 and ₹99,999, offering IDC-certified ranges of 179 km and 301 km respectively. The S1Z is Ola Electric’s first scooter range powered by its locally developed 46-series LFP Bharat Cell technology.
Around the same time, Ather Energy launched the Konarc family escooter at a starting price of ₹99,999. The scooter, built on Ather’s new EL platform, comes in six variants across the S and Z product lines with IDC-certified range options of 100 km, 120 km, 165 km, and 200 km.
These launches reflect a broader shift among manufacturers toward affordable models, practical range, and commuter-focused designs to appeal to buyers beyond the premium early-adopter market. According to Vahan data, electric two-wheeler registrations fell 16.2% month-over-month to 1.72 lakh units in August from 2.05 lakh units in July, though they jumped 64% year-over-year from 1.05 lakh units in August last year.
Investors see potential in the segment. The company recently secured funding to support its ambitions, including plans to expand its technological capabilities and strengthen market position.
